Review
Hearts were poor – ineffective in attack and shambolic in defense. . McBride produced his standard goal on or around the 10 minute mark – this one a shot from close range after Lennox had made the opening. He got the second again from a Lennox pass on 35 minutes. Hearts attacks were running up against the Celtic wall-like defense and Ronnie Simpson was having an easy time in goal and rarely troubled. Another neat move just before the whistle saw Johnstone set up Lennox who cooly finished. Celtic's dominance continued in the second half with Gallacher making some excellent passes. Lennox cooly added a fourth with a lob over the goalkeeper and Gallacher scored with a swerving shot that completely beat the keeper. Five goals up Celtic turned off the gas and went to sleep allowing Hearts to get back in. They duly scored 2 goals.
