Review
On an emotional evening as Celtic collected the two points they all but needed to all but clinch the title. All they had to do was avoid defeat by a huge margin in their last game at Fir Park and the title would be theirs. The only down side was Rangers' 4-0 win against Clyde at Ibrox which kept their slim hopes alive.
Celtic looked nervous when Ferguson gave the Pars the lead but Lennox equalised with a header before Johnstone won the match with a carefully taken shot after Martin had saved a Lennox shot.
At the end of the game came a vast horde of cheering fans to hail their heroes. The Evening Times reported that 'there was not a dry eye in the house' at the final whistle as the fans realised they were almost there. Stein refuses to be carried away and the team won't celebrate until it's officially won. 'What if Motherwell beat us 4-0 ?' he asks waiting reporters.
On to the final game of the season at Fir Park on May 7th.
