- Lennox scores Celtic's 100th league goal of the season
Review
Thistle put up a good fight in the first half and it was goalless till just before the interval. Four minutes from the whistle Bobby Lennox met a Johnstone corner on the volley to pout Celtic ahead.
In the second half the Jags pulled one back through Flanagan before Chalmers put Celtic back in front, followed by a goal from Wallace and a second header from Chalmers just before the end. Despite determined attempt by Thistle and the efforts of Niven in the Jags goal, Celtic were always looking the winners of this tie and Jimmy Johnstone, despite constant tackles and fouls had an outstanding game making the first three goals. Wallace at an unaccustomed right half also played well.
