Jim Craig scoring one of his 2 goals in the 7-1 win over Morton in the League Cup semi at Hampden, Oct 11, 1967. The Morton player trying to block the shot is ex-Celt Jim Kennedy. Celtic were simply awesome that night. It was a stunning display of power…they were 5-0 up in 21 minutes!! and Morton were a bloody good side then – they reached the Scottish cup semi 2 years running, and damn nearly drew with us at CP in April 68 – a result that would almost certainly have given Rangers the title, but Lennox scored a last gasp winner! Big Hughes was tremendous, scored a sensational goal in the second half, running from deep inside his own half, beating about 5 men, and lashing the ball in from 20 yards. Imagine the best Celtic display under O’Neill (6-1 v Hearts?) and multiply it by a factor of 3. That’s how good Celtic could be in 1967-69.
