Review
Another game where defensive lapses made the score line look tighter than the game actually was. Clyde shocked the supporters by taking an sixth minute lead. Anderson hit a wonderful dipping shot which crept in under the bar to put Clyde in front. That was the signal for Celtic to attack and they pounded the Clyde goal. Jim Brogan set up |Chalmers for a goal on 35 minutes with a classy cutback. And Brogan himself should have scored three minutes later but for McBride getting the final touch. And just before the interval Chalmers made it 3-1 with a shot that was deflected by Glasgow.
Clyde weren't done though. Immediately after the interval McFarlane was allowed to pick the ball up on the wing and run at the goal unchallenged before releasing a shot that streaked past Ronnie Simpson. For the rest of the half Celtic were on top but there was always the chance of Clyde making a break and scoring. At the end Chalmers had a goal disallowed for offside which looked to be good.
Top marks went to Murdoch and Brogan who took his chance well. During the game Ronnie Simpson took a blow to the ribs and went to hospital for an X-Ray after the game.
