Review
Celtic put pay to the hex from Dundee Utd with a confident win away from home. Jimmy Johnstone got the ball rollling with a brilliant goal on thirteen minutes. Bobby Lennox added a second to go in 2-0 up at half time.
Dundee Utd tried to fight their way back into it in the second half but when Wallace added a third and Lennox a fourth soon after it was all over. All that remained was for Davie Cattanach on as sub to put the capping on with a fifth just before the whistle.
Jerry Kerr, the Dundee Utd manager paid tribute to Jimnmy Johnstone after the match. "Johnstone is a wonderful player. Every time he is on the ball he is dangerous. Celtic played great football aginat us but even at that he was by far and a way above every other player on the pitch by his sheer ability."
Celtic were on the top of the table at the end of the month but Rangers now had a game in hand.
