- This was a game that was arranged during the pre-season training and came three days after the opener at Hampden against Leeds Utd. Ronnie Simpson was included in goal as Jock thought 'he needed a few games under his belt'.
- On the morning after the game Jock Stein flew to to Leeds to study Celtic's European Cup opponents, Ferencvaros, when they played against Leeds Utd in the Fairs Cities Cup Final (first leg) at Elland Road.
- Leeds extended an invitation to Celtic to visit Elland Road after the recent friendly at Hampden. The play had been good and it warranted another fixture at Elland Rd between the two teams. Both set about trying to arrange a mutually acceptable date.
- All the Celtic players on show were playing for inclusion in the first team squad.
Review
Jimmy Quin gave Celtic a two goal lead after 10 minutes. Alan Thompson pulled one back for the Accies before half time.
