Review
This game was played 48 hours after Celtic’s 4-0 annihilation of Rangers in the Scottish cup final. The treble was done and the only thing to do was put the season to bed.
With a depleted side there was a real sense of ‘end-of-term’. 30,000 turned up at Celtic Park for this game. In contrast at Ibrox a mere 6,400 turned up for Rangers game against Dunfermiline and there was talk of a major change in the playing and training staff there.
The game started with all the action in the first 10 minutes. At the end of that time Bartram had scored a great hatrick and Wallace had pulled one back. Bartram’s first came from a poor pass back by Gemmell. His second came from a good move and cross from Rankin and the thrird came from a good move down the left wing with the ball ending up at Bartram who swepot it into the net. In between Wallace had shot home Auld’s cross.
In the second half Joe Harper made it four for Morton and Harry Hood scored from a Catanach cross.
