Review
The two best teams in the British Isles at the time put on a great display of football and produced a great game all round. The sure-fire defense of Leeds was pitted against the super-fit and skillful Celtic attack. The game was played in an excellent spirit. John Fallon, Billy McNeill and John Clark, outstanding in a sweeper role, all had excellent games for Celtic. Goalless at half time, Leeds opened the scoring when a great cross from Lorimer saw Bates head home past Fallo. Celtic brought on Bertie Auld and actively went for the equualiser which came when Harry Hood cut the ball back for Lennox to sweep home.
