Review
Harry Hood gave Celtic the lead on eight minutes when he collected a pass from John Clark and weaved his way through the Rangers defenders before calmly slotting the ball past Neef. Bobby Murdoch picked up an injury early on and was subbed by Bertie Auld. But the game was a tale of the return of Jim Baxter for Rangers. Picked up on a free when released by Nottingham Forest at the end of the previous season he had fitted back into the midden like an old glove. In the second half Rangers hit back with two well worked goals and though Celtic pressured Neef they found him in good form.
