- Quarter final second leg. The first leg at Aberdeen had ended in a 0-0 draw.
- Neither club named a team before kick off. However Bobby Murdoch was said to be fit and due to return. In the end it was Hughes that returned but only as a sub. Tommy Gemmell played despite having injured a thigh against Rangers and a knee on the Sunday warm-up international against Eire.
- Stand was all ticket only with the tickets having gone on sale at the beginning of the week.
Review
This was a tough game against Aberdeen. Celtic went behind in the first half when Forrest latched onto a long ball out of defense and swept thew ball past Fallon. But in the second half the team ewas inspired by Jinky who made both goals.
