Trivia
- Following Celtic's dropping of Tommy Gemmell from the League Cup winning side, Tommy was in talks with Jock Stein and Sir Robert Kelly. He asked for a transfer and Celtic acceded to his wish. However there was no rush of buyers from south of the border for the international full back and a player that had been a constant in the side since the start of the season.
- Celtic rumoured to be interested in Birmingham City goalkeeper Jim Herriot but are scared off at the £50,000 transfer fee.
Review
Bobby Murdoch was Celtic's inspiration on the night and he opened the scoring with a glorious 20 yarder.
Auld hit the post and Hood missed a good opportunity before Harper equalised though Celtic claimed keeper Fallon was impeded.
When Robb gave Aberdeen the lead in 56 minutes it looked gloomy for Celtic but they came roaring back and Johnstone made it 2-2 from a Callaghan assist.
With six minutes left substitute Brogan scored the winner from a Callaghan cross.
