Review
Two late goals from Bobby Murdoch gave Celtic the points in this keenly fought tie at Somerset Park. An even looking contest at the start was headed forward by Jimmy Johnstone's opening goal from a Tommy Callaghan pass. Alex Ingram equalised for Ayr when a Brogan clearance bounced off of McNeill straight into the Ayr man's path. In the second half Jimmy Johnstone was on hand to prod home his and Celtic's second but back came Ingram again to again level it. But cometh the hour, cometh the man. Bobby Murdoch made and scored the third goal and scored a fourth with the last kick of the game.
A most entertaining match.
