- Celtic drew Dundee Utd at home in the next round of the Scottish Cup.
- The Reserves played two nights before with a team of Fallon, Craig, Gorman, Dalglish, Connelly, Cattanach, Davidson, Quinn, Macari, Hay, McBride Sub Wilson and won 3-0. The scorers were Macari (2) and Hay. On the basis of these performances Craig, Macari and Hay started the first team game against Dunfermiline.
