Review

A tight game – tighter than the 2-0 scoreline to the Celts would lead one to believe.
Evan Williams was busy in the first five minutes as Dundee Utd went all out for an early goal. Celtic needed the two headers from McNeill to win the game with the forwards finding the marking tight. The first came in the first half from a set piece with Tommy Gemmell flighting in an indirect free kick onto McNeill's head. The second came after the break when Jimmy Johnstone spotted McNeill up and supporting an attack after a prolonged period of pressure on the Arabs goal in the second half. The wee man hoisted the ball over and Big Cesar did the rest. United refused to give up all through the game and indeed had the most of the attacks. But it was Celtic who were tactically aware and had the armoury to weather the Arabs push and to break and win making all for a good game.
