Trivia
- The influential magazine 'France Football' awards Celtic as European team of the year for 1970. They are awarded a replica of the 'Victory of Samothrace' a statue which stands on show in the Louvre in Paris. Celtic were runners up in the previous two seasons. This was a great honour for the club and especially due to the efforts of Jock Stein and his players. (see link)
- Connelly plays in number 9 shorts but in a midfield role.
Review
Celtic win a highly entertaining fixture but took their foot off the pedal at 4-0. Jock Stein said to be concerned at late defensive lapses. Gemmell, Hood, Lennox and Connelly all outstanding.
