Review
Ayr put up a wonderful display and Celtic needed all their resolve to win both points. Both sides had goals disallowed for infringements before Hughes opened the scoring.
Hughes scored straight from a corner and the in form Hood scored the winner after Lennox struck the bar. One minute later Jim Flynn, who had only been with Ayr for 10 days pulled a goal back and both sides went at it hammer and tongs till the final whistle.
