- Billy McNeill and Tommy Gemmell were rested as was youngster Vic Davidson. In came Danny McGrain and Paul Wilson from the Reserves with Kenny Dalglish on the bench.
Review
Celtic played Murdoch to help him regain fitness as well as some of their promising youngsters.
Thistle came from one down to lead 2-1 although Celtic went up a gear and scored three more.
Paul Wilson scored a splendid goal on the run and Dalglish was impressive when he came on as a sub.
Denis McQuade and Alan Rough had excellent games for Thistle who looked certain to win the 2nd division,
