Trivia
- Wednesday night replay again at Hampden.
- Gemmell had been considered doubtful for this game. When he came off after the first game at the weekend his ankle was so badly swollen that he could hardly get his boot off. He made a quick recovery however and played. Jock Stein preferred Bertie Auld out on the left wing to start and brought Dalglish in instead of Vic Davidson. The team was not announced till just before kick off.
- Celtic qualify for their sixth SCF in seven years under Jock Stein.
- A young Kenny Dalglish makes a great impression.
Review
Generally regarded as not as good a match as the first game.
Johnstone is the difference between the sides. He scores with a header and has the Airdrie defence in pieces with his running and dribbling.
Dalglish shows well in his first start of the season in the right half role and Brogan shackles the dangerous duo of Busby and Jarvie.
Celtic will now face Rangers in the final on 8 May.
