Review
Celtic slump to a draw and a poor performance. Next week's visit to Pittodrie will decide the title. Aberdeen topped the table on 53 points from 32 games, with Celtic in second with 48 points from 29 games – three games in hand that HAD to be won plus the title decider the following week.
Celtic started well but on the half hour but Tommy Gemmell gave away a free kick and the touched kick was blasted past Williams.
United were well organised and doubled up on Jimmy Johnstone who was not as effective as he had been in the previous Cup games against Airdrie.
It took till the 72nd minute, and with the slow hand claps resounding in their ears, Willie Wallace threaded his way through the defense and shot home.
Veteran winger Davie Wilson has a fine game for United.
Bobby Lennox scores four for the reserves and is now guaranteed a call up to the first team.
