Trivia
- This was Celtic's first ever trip to Stairs Park. The Celtic party travelled straight to Stranraer after the testimonial match for Bobby Charlton in Manchester.
- Game kicked off at 5.30 due to Stranraer not having floodlights installed yet. This makes it very difficult for Celtic fans to travel.
- Five changes to the team. Connaghan was fit again and went back in goal. Brian McLaughlin, Bobby Lennox, Vic Davidson and Harry Hood were brought in up front with Dalglish, Johnstone, Macari and Callaghan rested.
Review
Stranraer played well despite their Second Division status.
Two early goals saw Stranraer open the scoring and Vic Davidson quickly reply for Celtic.
