Trivia
- One point in front, the trip to Tannadice represented a potential bogey. Jimmy Johnstone was recalled with Wilson dropping to the bench.
- The manager and assistant headed to Perth in the week to watch Cup opponents Aberdeen take on St Johnstone.
- More boos at the end…Celts fans clearly not happy.
- Jock Stein and Willie Ormond at loggerheads over Kenny Dalglish. Ormond wants him to travel to Wales for under 23 duty whilst Stein states he is 'knackered' from playing too much football. Dalglish eventually plays and scores in a 2-1 win.
Review
Bobby Lennox just about keeps Celtic's title hopes alive with two fine goals. The veteran Lion proved his worth with two great goals. He got the first goal with a fine solo effort. Dundee Utd replied and then went ahead with goals from Gardner and Cameron. But a minute later Jimmy Johnstone played on a ball to Lennox who strode in and equalised.
In the second half Celtic attacked and attacked but could not break down Dundee Utd.
Substitute Paul Wilson almost snatched the win late on when he crashed a shot off the bar.
This put the top of the table level on points
