Deans' fine opportunist goal in four minutes meant that Aberdeen could not sit back and defend.
Stein made a double substitution on the hour with Callaghan and Lennox replacing Johnstone and Deans and this gave the side fresh legs.
Celtic had one eye on Madrid on Wednesday and they clinched it with a fine goal by Lennox who blasted in a shot from a narrow angle after a clever Hood-Dalglish free kick.
