Review
Rangers won a niggly, tetchy encounter in which very little football was played and clashes occurred all over the park. The chief culprits were Parlane and MacDonald for Rangers. Brogan and Jimmy Johnstone were also not without blame. Referee Gordon was generally seen as having let the game get out of hand.
Dalglish opened the scoring with a powerful left foot shot from the edge of the area (which appeared to be handled by Jardine before going in and which the referee took no action against).
Rangers started the second half brightly and McGrain stopped a header from Jackson on the line. Jim Brogan was booked for a foul on Johnston.
McDougall conjured a goal out of thin air shooting past an unsighted Connaghan.
Brogan was sent off after a tussle with Parlane who should have been sent off also.
Jackson then had a free header from a corner and Connaghan who failed to come for the ball failed to save.
Jinky was booked and immediately replaced by Harry Hood.
Parlane was eventually sent of in 88 minutes after an incident with Pat McCluskey.
Celtic couldn't help wondering if they could have prevented Jackson's winner if Brogan was on the field.
