- With the qualification from the group assured Sean Fallon could afford to relax a little bit with the team selection. Callaghan and Lennox started and George Connelly and young Andy Ritchie were on the bench. Glavin and Hood missed out, Hood with a cut foot and Glavin with a leg strain. Bobby Lennox's opening goal took the tension out the game and there followed an open entertaining match.
Young sub Andy Ritchie's goal is the highlight of the game when he races clear from halfway to thrash the ball past Bobby Clark.
