Trivia
- Stenhousemuir's first visit to Parkhead since 1937. Celtic led 2-0 from the first leg.
- Sean Fallon had vowed to freshen things up and had the perfect chance with the visit of Stenhousemuir. Danny McGrain was carrying a cut in his leg and in came Roy Aitken, still not 17, for his first start. McNamara was again fit after an ankle knock. Deans was retained and Ronnie Glavin and Harry Hood restored. Bobby Hannah and Tommy Burns had been in line for a call up but they were both injured.
- By this time Steve Murray had decided to retire. The foot injuries he had received the previous season had failed to heal despite an operation in the closed season and he decided to retire.
- It's the end for George Connelly at Parkhead. He walks out again for the third time and this time it's final. It's a sad end for one of Celtic's greatest ever talents.
- Celtic win 3-0 on aggregate and will play Partick Thistle in the semis.
