Review
The plan had been to contain Wisla in the opening period and then for McGrain to move forward into midfield and support with his strong running and passing with Doyle and Wilson on the wings. Glavin and Aitken were to provide the midfield.
Celtic found themselves under early attack but survived and in 15 minutes Lynch managed a shot at goal after a good run down the left.
In 23 minutes Celtic missed a glorious chance when Aitken turned the ball to Wilson who was only six yards out but his shot rebounded off the keeper on to a post and wide.
At half time Celtic were optimistic but Wisla killed them off with two quick goals. Firstly Kmiecik beat Latchford with a 25 yarder and then the same player scored with a lob past the advancing Latchford. Celtic protested that they were not ready after a quick free kick had been taken.
Celtic fought on but without the ineligible Stanton on Craig the task was too much for Stein's young team.
