Review
Played in lashing rain, Airdrie did not play particularly badly but could not cope with Celtic's firepower, especially four goal hero Craig.
This was an entertaining game with Craig showing why he was worth the £50,000 transfer fee. Celtic hit the ground running and in 12 minutes were 3-0 up. Airdrie fought back and Latchford needed to make two good saves but the fourth goal and Craig's third put pay to that.
Craig's first goal was a header from a Lynch cross. His second was again provided by Lynch who crossed and Craig pivotted with his back to goal, turned and hooked the ball in. Wilson made Glavin's goal but he still had to beat two defenders before shooting home. Craig's third came from a header from a perfect Doyle cross. And Dalglish after an excellent run passed unselfishly for Craig's fourth.
