- Tommy Burns leads the fightback at 2-0 down with his first ever Celtic goal.
- Dalglish and McGrain had played 24 hours previously in a British select in ex Newcastle manager Joe Harvey's testimonial.

Review
For almost an hour Motherwell had the best of the play and were two goals up at half time and with Peter Latchford to thank for it just being the two.
In the second half Tommy Burns replaces Edvaldsson and Burns' presence changed the game and the attitude of Celtic. They fought back and Alfie Conn made a strong run before slipping the ball to Dalglish who passed to Burns to pull one back. Doyle replaced Wilson and a slip up let Dalglish in to clain an equaliser. Motherwell held on desperately to the end to claim a point.
The Fnal League Table looked like this.
