Edvaldsson's late goal gives Celtic fans an early Christmas present and Celts are now up to fifth place, 8 points behind Rangers but with a game in hand.
The game was even until late on when Celtic began to pressure the United defence and Conn and Wilson came close.
With eight minutes left Edvaldsson scored with a header after Wilson headed on Lynch's cross.
