Review
Andy Lynch shows commendable coolness by scoring a rebound after Alan Rough had saved his penalty. Celtic now into fourth place and rising.
Provan and Burns are the best players on the day and Vic Davidson showed classy touches on his home debut.
Mike Conroy opened the scoring ending a good move. Provan took the ball for a run down the wing before firing in a great cross which the Jags defenders missed entirely for Mike to run in and shoot past Rough. Latchford had to be alert and pull off some decent saves as Thistle fought back. Celtic retained the initiative in the second half with Doyle and Provan making great moves but failing to score. The game was starting to look like a to-and-fro affair till the 60th minute when O'Hara handles a Provan shot and the referee had no hesitation in awarding the penalty. Lynch put the rebound away after Rough saved the first shot.
Newly returned Vic Davidson received multiple plaudits for his play in this game.
The win took Celtic up to fourth in the table
