- When Nicholas scored Celtic's third shortly after half time the Morton chairman Hal Stewart was still having refreshments downstairs in the board room.
- When he returned he thought it was still 2-0 so when Cochrane scored Morton's second goal in 86 minutes Hal thought it was an equaliser and was devastated to be told of the Nicholas goal.
