Review

Celtic badly missed McGrain's experience and leadership and went down narrowly. One goal on the night would have seen them through.

Young Bonner in the Celtic goal had a magnificent game and kept Celtic in the tie until the end but they couldn't muster the goal which would have saw them through on the away goals rule.

Memories

30 years ago in September this year Celtic played Juventus away in the European Cup.

Through the Evening Times or the Celtic View i got in touch with a chap who was running a bus from Easterhouse, the Ogilvie No.2.

The bus belonging to Clyde Coast Coaches left from Easterhouse Shopping Centre car park at 9am on the Monday morning arriving in Turin on the Tuesday night at midnight.

Most people have probably now done the whole Euro coach trip but back then pre M25 it was still new.

It wasn,t my first coach trip to see Celtic in Europe but it sticks out in my mind as one of the scariest because of events after the game.

It was the first time i,d came across what we would call casuals.

Arriving back at the bus after the game to find the bus empty or so i thought.

Turns out everybody was lying on the floor.

One young fella wearing the hoops never made it as far as the bus and ended up in hospital for several days.

Eventually at lunchtime on the Friday afternoon the bus had made it back to Blackpool via the Alps to have 3 windows replaced at a coach builders.

We all ended up in the Blackpool Transport Social Club.

The bus dropped me and a few others off at Castle St on the way back at midnight on the Friday.

A few hours later and the bus was heading straight for the next away game at Dens Park.

Somehow i managed to miss the Dundee away trip the next day.

A certain future manager of Celtic played for Juve that night!!!
