Trivia
- A very inexperienced Celtic side beats a strong Rangers team to win the Glasgow Cup.
Review
A young Celtic side coped well with their experienced opponents. Rangers fielded McCloy, Forsyth, Miller, McLean and Black and had Davie Cooper on the bench.
Celtic scored when Halpin had a fine run and shot which McCloy fumbled into the net.
Rangers equalised when Garner scored an own goal but with minutes left sub Paul McGugan diverted a Halpin cross in for the winner.
The young Celtic players celebrated with the cup in front of the Celtic fans in the Broomloan stand at the end.
