Review
Celtic failed to gain revenge for their defeat to Forest in last season's UEFA cup.
David Hay gave young Paul McGugan a run at centre half and he had a good game.
Celtic had most of the pressure and Sutton made the game's two best saves when he spectacularly tipped a Reid lob over the bar and then in the second half he foiled McGarvey's low shot at the post. Forest looked dangerous on the break and Hodge and Mills had good shots at Bonner however apart from that the game never really got going, much to the frustration of the fans on a fine summer night.
Dutch defender Johnny Metgod looked head and shoulders above every other player.
