- This was the last occasion when Celtic fans watched from the 'old' Celtic end of the ground, the half covered west terracing. After the game the old terracing was demolished and mine shafts under ground filled in to allow a new terracing to be built with a full roof on it. The new one would be ready by August 1986.
- On the same day Celtic defeated Dundee Utd 1-0 in a Reserve League match at Tannadice. The Celtic team was Latchford, Traynor,McGee, Baillie, McGugan, Shepherd, Coyle, Kean, McAdam, Fraser, McGuire. Subs Mills, Walsh (McGuire). The Celtic scorer was Fraser.
- On March 19th Celtic defeated Dundee 3-1 in the Reserve League Cup Final at Dens Park. The Celtic team was Latchford, Traynor, McGee, Coyle, Baillie, McGugan, McGuire, Shepherd, McInally, McAdam, Archdeacon. Subs Kean (McGuire), Fraser. The Celtic scorers were Archdeacon 2 and McInally.
