- Aitken missed the first penalty but Johnston, Grant Archdeacon and McClair scored to give Celts victory.
- Pat Bonner saved two penalties from Hewitt and Willie Miller.
- Tony Shepherd was sent off.
- Celtic fans refused to leave after the game and only left when the players came out with towels round them to salute them. Some Celtic supporters buses did not get back into Glasgow until 2am.
