- There were 200 casualties for the red cross to deal with and it was said too be their busiest ever day at Parkhead.
- Rangers fans were suspected of buying tickets for the Celtic end but most were prevented from entering and there was no trouble on the Celtic end terraces.
- A Rangers fan tried to attack Brian McClair as he took his second penalty. McClair slammed the ball into the net and said afterwards 'He (the Rangers fan) doesn't speak my language.
- Rangers' players manager Graeme Souness was criticised for making gestures to Celtic supporters.
- 37 years old Danny McGrain is Celtic's best player on the day.
- England manager Bobby Robson attended the match, presumably to watch Butcher and Woods of Rangers.
