Trivia
- Frank McAvennie had been included in Andy Roxburgh’s Scotland squad for the Friendly game away to Saudi Arabia. 6 of the Celtic team were involved in this game flying out to Saudi for the midweek game and then back for the Sunday Cup game.
- Derek Whyte was dropped for this game. Billy Stark had still not recovered from a thigh strain.
Review
McAvennie had a good game out-muscling the Dundee new centre-half Wes Saunders (ex-Carlisle); McStay had a quiet game; Grant was uncompromising in the Celtic defence against Dundee attacks; Morris scored from a 25yd free kick; the Dundee goal came from a slack back pass from Lex Baillie.
