Played on a balmy August evening, the game was virtually dead and buried by half-time, Andy Walker's third minute goal coupled with his second on the half hour mark and Frank MacAvennie's goal on 37 put Celtic 3-0 up at half time, Tommy Burns made it four and Frankie Bhoy grabbed his second to make it 5-0 before 60 minutes had elapsed but the Accies rallied slightly and a quick-fire double by Jamie Fairlie(?) sent alarm bells ringing in the Hoops defence (justifiably so because three days later we went to Mordor and lost 5-1), Billy Stark netted number six then Owen Archdeacon scored the seventh.
