Nicholas vanishes as Celtic march on without him – Scottish round-up
BYLINE:By PATRICK GLENN
CHARLIE NICHOLAS faces a confrontation with the Celtic manager Billy McNeill, if the troubled striker returns to the Parkhead club this week. He walked out of the ground just before the Premier Division match against St Johnstone and has not been heard of since.
Nicholas disappeared after the team and substitutes were posted in the Celtic Park dressing room. Whatever the player's notion of his first-team status may be, his case is not helped by poor form only two goals since his return nor by the team's recent renaissance. The 3-0 victory over St Johnstone, with goals by Tommy Coyne, Paul Elliott and Joe Miller, was their second win in four days and their seventh match without defeat. They have renewed hopes of achieving a place in the Uefa Cup by overtaking Dundee United in third place.
