Do you remember when 6,000 Celtic fans swamped Ayresome Park for Tony Mowbray's testimonial?
When herds of Rab C Nesbitts set up a transit camp in Albert Park and off-licences across Middlesbrough sold out?
Boro, newly promoted to the Premier League, gave a decent account of themselves in a lively 1-1 draw.
It was an entertaining game for a friendly – but all the talk afterwards was about the bizarre short-lived flashpoint that came with a pitch invasion by visiting fans waving an Irish tricolour and the responding counter-incursion by angry Boro patriots.
For a second it looked like it could by Bannockburn all over again. Or the Boyne.
It was a fantastic sunny day and a great atmosphere for the start of a new era for Lennie Lawrence's side.
It was a great chance for an all time Boro hero to take the deserved applause of old fans as well as his new.
