CELTIC'S injury problems have not been erased during their Spanish sunshine trip.
Two players will see specialists after they return to Glasgow today, but there is better news of another key man who is on the verge of making a return.
Physiotherapist Brian Scott last night assessed the latest situation facing Marc Rieper, Jackie McNamara, and Craig Burley before the squad prepared to return home this morning.
Rieper is now likely to be out for a further month, although the operation on his injured ankle has been a success.
It seems that the Dane, who has been out of serious first-team duty for three months, now has a toe injury.
Said Scott: "It is an injury related to his ankle problem and may mean minor surgery but we will see what the surgeon's report says when we get back."
In the case of McNamara, the physio explained that the player was due to have a precautionary specialist examination because he had been feeling some pain in his knee, which had appeared to be healing well following his operation. However, after he returned to play against Rangers in the New Year game and also Balona, he has been having some pain.
The good news is about Burley who, according to Scott, is "very close" to making his return to the first team for the first time for three months after a groin injury.
"Craig has made a lot of improvement," said Scott.
Celtic wrapped up their break with an impressive 4-1 win over Dutch first division side Cambuur in the San Pedro Stadium,
Marbella yesterday.
Henrik Larsson put them ahead in 33 minutes heading home from a Vidar Riseth cross and he was followed three minutes later by Lubomir Moravcik left foot shot.
The best of all, though, came five minutes after the break, a 25 yarder from Paul Lambert, but the Dutch got one back with a penalty conceded by David Hannah.
Moravcik, though, scored his second and Celtic's fourth goal with four minutes left when Mahe made a marauding run up the left and flighted a great ball for Moravcik, who deceived everyone with a cute dummy before hammering home.
