Forced to paint the sitting room today and I HATE painting but I found it a calming distraction from the rubbish we produced today. It is hard to find any more adjectives to describe how bad we are at the moment and like most of you I agree with the fact that we are not watchable as a football team. St Mirren seemed to have with the odd exception, school boys on the field and they passed the ball better than our overpaid professionals.

I have read it on here that RD is being paid a paltry sum to manage us and up to now it would be fair to say he would struggle to justify that paltry sum.

In the Lennon thread last season I posted that it was time for a change and I feel fairly guilty about that now, so much so that if I saw him in the flesh I would attempt to hang on to his leg until he agrees to come back and sort the mess out.

This team has nothing to offer the game of football and it is far from all Delia’s fault but if we go through the season producing that type of display we will forfeit the next generation of Celtic supporters to the EPL.

I was going to post the negative stuff now but I can’t bring myself to type it

Scottish Premiership: John Guidetti scores twice as Celtic beat St Mirren 2-1

http://www1.skysports.com/news/11797/9491719/scottish-premiership-john-guidetti-scores-twice-as-celtic-beat-st-mirren-2-1

Celtic took the points with a 2-1 victory over St Mirren in a gritty encounter between the teams in Paisley.

Guidetti (42) scored his first when Emilio Izaguirre exchanged passes with Tony Stokes before releasing Scott Brown clear on the edge of the St Mirren box and the Celtic skipper squared across the six-yard line for the Swede to scramble the ball over the line.

Had the ball not finished up in the net St Mirren defender Jim Goodwin may have been red-carded for tripping Guidetti as the Celtic striker was about to hit his initial shot.

Celtic gifted the home side an equaliser four minutes after the break when Craig Gordon threw the ball straight to an opponent and as St Mirren worked the ball quickly into the box the keeper denied Marc McAusland with a reflex save but McLean was following up to net the rebound.

Celtic manager Ronny Delia was disappointed with his team’s performance despite beating St Mirren 2-1

But Celtic restored their advantage on 63 minutes when Stokes collected a short lay-off from Mubarak Wakaso and turned to play in a wonderful reverse pass for Guidetti to shoot under Marian Kello from eight yards.

The St Mirren defence was split inside two minutes with a long pass from Virgil van Dijk which Guidetti latched on to but could only lift his attempted lob against the advancing Kello.

But 90 seconds later McLean intercepted a pass out of defence from Eoghan O’Connell and laid the ball in front of Thomas Reilly who smacked a shot off the bar from 30 yards.

St Mirren manager Tommy Craig felt his side deserved to get more out the game

Van Dijk then squandered an opportunity when he arrived in front of McAusland at the back post to meet a Stokes free-kick from the right flank, but the big Celtic defender clipped the ball over the target from six yards.

After Guidetti restored Celtic’s lead van Dijk was inches away from adding a third 15 minutes from time when his dipping free-kick from 25 yards skimmed the side netting with Kello well beaten.

Brown and Calum McGregor both hit rising shots over the bar after that as Celtic saw the game out with little threat from St Mirren.

A John Guidetti double gave Celtic a hard-fought victory at St Mirren Park.

The on-loan Manchester City forward, 22, was credited with the opening goal after a scramble in the penalty box involving St Mirren’s Jim Goodwin.

However, Kenny McLean fired into an empty net to level early in the second half after team-mate Jason Naismith had been denied by goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Marian Kello was unable to keep out a near-post shot by Guidetti and Celtic held their lead on this occasion.

The Swede, who had netted his first Celtic goal in Wednesday’s Scottish League Cup win over Hearts, is ineligible for Thursday’s Europa League Group D meeting with Dinamo Zagreb as his loan move had not been finalised in time for Uefa’s deadline.

However, in Paisley, the Sweden international strengthened his case to be the central striker in Ronny Deila’s desired three-pronged attack.

The pace and forcefulness of Celtic’s early approach may have led the home fans to believe they were in for a long 90 minutes, but it was St Mirren who carved out the first real chance.

McLean won the ball in midfield and squared for Thomas Reilly, whose dipping shot from 30 yards rattled the crossbar with Gordon beaten.

That effort appeared to inspire the Buddies in their quest for a first league goal at St Mirren Park this term and there was much more confidence in their play for the remainder of the first half.

Celtic’s play lacked the fluency that had secured their midweek win and, save for an Anthony Stokes dipping shot wide from the left, Deila’s side were fairly inactive in the final third.

Guidetti got beyond St Mirren’s defence on the half-hour mark but Jeroen Tesselaar slid in superbly to send the ball out.

And, although the Swede may not have made the final touch on Celtic’s opener, his presence in the six-yard box following Scott Brown’s low cross was crucial.

Kello made an initial save after Goodwin got a challenge in on Guidetti, but the ball ricocheted back into the net off a combination of the two tackling players.

Having finally started to impose themselves, Celtic surrendered their lead cheaply at the start of the second half.

Gordon threw the ball straight to Sean Kelly, who released John McGinn on St Mirren’s left.

Naismith diverted McGinn’s low centre towards goal and, although Gordon blocked well, McLean was on hand to convert the rebound.

The leveller, though fortuitous, was merited, but Tommy Craig’s men allowed Celtic to take control in the final half-hour, with Guidetti again at the forefront.

The striker latched on to Stokes’ reverse pass and struck through the grasp of Kello, who may have done better.

And the visitors had chances to add to their lead, with Virgil van Dijk bending a free-kick wide and Callum McGregor shooting too high from open play.
