Trivia
- Back to the league after the disastrous time with the loss to Molde in the UEFA Cup practically knocking Celtic out the competition.
- Pressure has been on Deila, and increasing calls for his departure.
- Blackett thankfully dropped after shambles of an appearance in midweek v Molde, likely his last appearance.
- Long break as internationals weekends for the Euros playoffs, no Scotland but Ireland need to defeat Bosnia to make it through.
- The club announced it would introduce the Living Wage rate of £7.85 to around 180 members of staff engaged mostly in retail at the club’s 2014 annual meeting, following pressure from the Celtic Trust and a petition backed by 10,000 supporters.
- Rangers (OldCo): HMRC win their appeal against Rangers, and effectively state it was “common sense” that taxes should have been paid and they cheated, and players wouldn’t have come to Rangers without it. Major ruling. They cheated and finally justice is being served.
- Delivering the opinion of the court, Lord Drummond Young said: “That accords with common sense. If the law were otherwise, an employee could readily avoid tax by redirecting income to members of his family to meet outgoings that he would normally pay: for example to a trust for his wife…or to trustees to pay for his children’s education or the outgoings on the family home…The funds are ultimately derived as consideration for the employee’s services, and on that basis they are properly to be considered emoluments or earnings.”
- So will the titles they earned during the period of EBT’s be stripped off them?
- Rangers Newco reveal financial year loss of £7.5m.
- Fans across the board are calling for Rangers OldCo titles to be stripped (2001-2010), but will the authorities have the guts to do this? Pressure growing, but Huns & sympathisers are arrogantly confident.
- Remembrance day today. Note: Usual guys trying to make jump on soapbox that Celtic fans not respecting the minute silence etc etc. Club has had to come out to criticise the few whointerruptedthe silence.
- This sums up Glasgow football: Poppies. Celtic donate £10k. Thistle donate £3k. ‘Sevco’ have big poppy display & army show, donate £0.
Review
(ges of KDS)
Good result and a good performance but we’re still a shambles at the back. We’re lucky that Ross County’s finishing was just as bad; some of our guys just look scared to tackle the opposition.
Delighted with Rogic and Forrest today, Forrest showed what he’s capable of when we’re on the front foot and he’s one on one rather than trying to break down 10 man defences. Said it before, Rogic is like a new signing, we’ve never had the chance to see him fully fit and I’m glad we’ve hung on to him. He’s only going to get better with games.
Ambrose is also in for praise today and I know I just criticised our defence as a whole, but he took control of situations where he and Boyata would leave it for each other leading to a typical gaff – also made an excellent clearance in our 6 yard box from a RC cut back

Our Irish roots will forever be engrained in the history of Celtic Football Club, and rightly so. However, the branches of our Club have grown to include the respect and tolerance of people that have been subject to suffering outside of their own control. If we don’t incorporate these values then our ethos is no different to anyone else. As much as it may infuriate people that there are some people who (once a year) wish to respect the loss of loved ones who were committed to war by governments they probably never even voted for, or causes they may not have believed in, to the handful who couldn’t hold their tongue for just 60 secs in a year, then question whether you are fit to represent Celtic Football Club. If it is too difficult to remain silent for a minute then simply come in afterwards and don’t offend.
To the overwhelming majority who stood in the driving rain today, I salute you

Celtic restored their ascendancy in the Scottish Premiership with this emphatic victory against Ross County. A dark and raw afternoon in the Highlands was illuminated by a quick double from Leigh Griffiths, who enhanced his status as bookies’ favourite to finish top scorer in the division by taking his tally to 14 league goals and 18 in all competitions.
Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton also contributed for Celtic, with Tony Dingwall’s accomplished strike for the home side offering little comfort to Jim McIntyre.
“To lose four goals was harsh on us considering all we did in the game but, as I’ve been saying for a few weeks, I would be more worried if we weren’t creating chances,” said the Ross County manager.
Ronny Deila, the Celtic manager, felt his players had experienced minimal discomfort. “County had one header in the first half but there was more from them later and it is irritating to concede when you are 3-0 up,” he said. “They deserved that but we scored four beautiful goals.”
The annual minute’s disruption was duly observed by that boorish element of the travelling support who cannot abide the Remembrance Day commemoration, although their team wore black armbands as a mark of respect and other fans in the same section made their disdain plain.
Celtic issued a statement in response to the incedent: “The silence was impeccably observed by the overwhelming majority of our fans as it always is. Clearly we are disappointed that a handful of individuals have chosen to embarrass the Club and our supporters in this way. These individuals are not welcome at celtic.’
For Celtic, victory helped to soothe their European disappointment. Thursday’s 2-1 defeat by Molde left Celtic unable to call upon Jozo Simunovic or Kris Commons, with Efe Ambrose called on to fill the gap in central defence.
Meanwhile, Keiran Tierney – hailed by his manager as Celtic’s single successful performer against Molde – was granted a rest on the bench, with Emilio Izaguirre restored at left-back. James Forrest replaced Commons, but the sight that most animated the visiting support was of Carlton Cole, when the former West Ham striker came out with the other substitutes for the warm-up.
County were also trying to recover from a setback in their most recent outing, when they became only the second team to lose a league game to Dundee United. With Scott Boyd replacing the captain, Andrew Davies, the Staggies were intent on containing the champions, with Ian McShane in a holding role between the back and middle fours.
It worked well enough for all but seven minutes of a first half in which Celtic commanded 70 per cent of possession. This dominance did not translate into a lead until Rogic decided to batter directly at the County door and succeeded in tearing it off his hinges with a drive that ripped past Gary Woods from beyond the box.
Even so, matters would have been less one-sided had Dingwall put away an early header, which was begging to be converted, and Jackson Irvine should have equalised in the seconds before half-time, when he snapped at a dropping ball a few yards out only to miscue completely with the goal gaping. Against a team with a predator such as Griffiths, such profligacy is punished routinely and, sure enough, the striker added to his burgeoning tally with two strikes within as many minutes.
Both goals inflicted scars on Boyd. First he slipped inside the County box and Griffiths pounced to shoot left-footed away from Woods. From the restart the home side lost possession and Boyd was left trailing Forrest when the winger knocked the ball around him on the halfway line and scampered off with it all the way to the penalty area, where his cut-back was swept home tidily by Griffiths.
On the hour, the Staggies fans had something to cheer when Irvine held up play for Dingwall to place a forceful finish past Craig Gordon. Griffiths, though, had another card to play, this time with a cross for Bitton to direct a looping header into the far corner. With that margin established, Celtic were able to amble through the last few minutes with 10 men as Forrest departed suffering from cramp after Deila had sent on his quota of substitutes.

BBC Scotland at Victoria Park Celtic regained their six-point lead at the top of the Premiership with a second-half double from Leigh Griffiths providing the platform for victory.
A brilliant Tom Rogic strike found the top corner to put the visitors ahead.
Griffiths demonstrated his quality by reacting fastest to defender Scott Boyd’s slip to curl home, and he then converted a James Forrest cutback.
County gave themselves a chance when Tony Dingwall slotted home, but Nir Bitton’s header ended the contest.
As well as a return to winning form following Europa League defeat by Molde in midweek, the Dingwall triumph was Celtic’s fifth league win in a row, with nearest challengers Hearts having won on Saturday. County remain fifth, five points off St Johnstone in fourth.
Rogic stunner leads the way
The pattern was set early on with Ronny Deila’s side enjoying possession and territory but unable to breach a well-organised and disciplined County side.
The best chance fell to the hosts’ Liam Boyce as the striker connected with a header from eight yards, but he was off target.
A series of long-range efforts were the most Celtic could manufacture, but that eventually provided the catalyst to their opener.
Tom Rogic scores for Celtic against Ross County Rogic’s strike was the difference between the sides in the first half
Rogic received the ball from Celtic defender Mikael Lustig and sent a powerful left-foot shot that was instinctively struck sweeping past Gary Woods.
Set pieces offered Jim McIntyre’s men their best opportunity and a well-worked corner gave Martin Woods plenty of space, but his execution was lacking.
Ross County midfielder Ian McShane broke into the Celtic box early in the second half but a heavy touch cost him dearly as the chance came to nothing.
Griffiths goals keep coming
Celtic reasserted their authority and Griffiths took a lovely touch in the box to create space for a shot, but Woods saved.
The pressure was mounting and when Griffiths seized on Boyd’s mistake the inevitable occurred as he bent a lovely curling left-foot shot into the net.
Leigh Griffiths scores for Celtic against Ross County The left-foot of Griffiths was once again the scourge of Premiership defenders
An 18th goal for the season for Griffiths arrived almost immediately. Forrest used all of his pace to outstrip the defence on the right and Griffiths was ill-advisedly left all alone to fire home.
The Premiership player of the month for October’s target of 30-plus goals this season looks well within reach.
Forrest went close again when he cut inside, only to drag his shot narrowly wide.

Highlights – Leigh Griffiths’ October goals
At the other end, Michael Gardyne went close with an angled drive which Craig Gordon did well to tip round the post. From the corner, the ball fell to Boyd but once again the target was missed when a goal looked likely.
Celtic’s unimpressive defending offered County some hope when they failed to clear from their own box. Dingwall was the beneficiary as he danced across the box and converted.
Jackson Irvine thought he had brought his side back into contention with a header that Gordon brilliantly tipped away.
Efe Ambrose then produced a last-ditch challenge to prevent Gardyne from touching home before Irvine missed with another header.
However, when Stuart Armstrong delivered a corner on to Bitton’s head, the Israel midfielder settled the match by glancing the ball into the far corner.
It was a deserved three points for the champions but County might feel a marginally improved overall performance could have produced a tighter margin than a 4-1 defeat.

Celtic condemn fans who did not observe minute’s silence
Celtic say fans who did not observe a Remembrance Sunday minute’s silence have “embarrassed the club” and are “not welcome” at future games.
The Scottish champions beat hosts Ross County 4-1 in Dingwall.
“The silence was impeccably observed by the overwhelming majority of our fans as it always is,” the club said.
“Clearly we are disappointed that a handful of individuals have chosen to embarrass the club and our supporters in this way.”
The short statement ended: “These individuals are not welcome at Celtic.”
Earlier, Celtic manager Ronny Deila had commented on the disruption during his post-match news conference, saying: “It is disappointing.
“I come from Norway and I don’t know too much about these things, but it is something the club has to deal with.”
