Could have been 3 or 4, poor finishing and good goalkeeping is going to bite on us the arse domestically sooner or later.

We deserved the win, the Sheep were barely in it, we were noticeably poorer when Forrest went off and their young winger was given free reign to race down our right side.

Great save from Gordon at the end as well.

Andy Walker, I loved him during the centenary season, now he's a pompous bellend, that was never a penalty in the last couple of minutes no matter how many times he repeated it.

The ref was at it again today, 6 bloody minutes injury time Booking Sviatchenko after 53 seconds and then allowing the Sheep to boot anything in a green and white jersey for the rest of the half.

Should have been out of sight, once again we come up against a goalkeeper who has a great game, and once again we waste a good few chances.

Their game plan was to kick us off the park, to leave the boot in, be late, and the referee allowed them to do it.

Six and a bit minutes of added time as well, if we were a goal down do you think he would have added that ?

McInnes` after match rant was the warblings of a bitter wee hun bastard, nothing more, nothing less.

Rogic, Broony, Armstrong, Simunovic, Sviatchenko, and Gordon all big players for us.

Great result against Scotlands most delusional club and fans.

The problem with Walker is demonstrated by his live "analysis" of the goal today

He had just watched a wonderful goal…taken with skill and aplomb

Most "experts" in such a situation would sound enthusiastic/ happy/excited and try to communicate that to the viewers..

He sounded bored beyond belief…lacked any interest never mind enthusiasm …. seemed actually upset that Celtic had scored

He adds nothing to the production….provides nothing tbat constitutes anything remotely approaching expertise

I realise he is not alone in these faults but surely the TV companies could find people who can add to the viewers' enjoyment of a match

Compare and contrast with people like Michael Johnson at athletics or John McEnroe at tennis

A moment of real class from Tom Rogic earned Celtic the victory and further strengthened the champions’ grip on the Scottish Premiership title race.

The Celtic midfielder’s controlled half-volley in the 23rd minute was enough to send Celtic 10 points clear of Aberdeen with a game on hand on the team who have finished runners-up in the past two seasons. Celtic passed up a stream of chances either side of the interval and defended well when Aberdeen pushed for an equaliser in the final quarter.

All but two of the eight players who came in for Celtic’s 4-0 victory over Ross County dropped out of the team. Stuart Armstrong and Emilio Izaguirre were the exceptions. Celtic play Borussia Mönchengladbach away from home in the Champions League on Tuesday night.Aberdeen gave their captain, Ryan Jack, his first start in 10 weeks following knee surgery while top goalscorer Adam Rooney and James Maddison started on the bench, Wes Burns being preferred up front.

Erik Sviatchenko was booked in the first minute for chopping down Jonny Hayes as Aberdeen started on the front foot, but the closest they got to an early goal was when the winger had a penalty-area effort blocked by Jozo Simunovic.

Celtic grew in possession but they had not seriously threatened before opening the scoring. Mikael Lustig found room to cross and the ball was only half-cleared to Rogic on the edge of the box. The Australia international took one touch with his right foot and quickly sliced across the ball with the outside of his left foot to send it into the corner of the net.

Aberdeen took time to respond but Niall McGinn twice found Andrew Considine in good positions with crosses. The left-back headed the first over and his volley son after was blocked.

Celtic had a great opportunity to double their lead just before the break but Armstrong shot wide from 12 yards.

Celtic maintained their pressure after the interval and Joe Lewis produced a brilliant fingertip save to stop Scott Sinclair’s effort curling in the top corner after the wide player cut inside.

After making small inroads at the start of the second period, Aberdeen brought on Rooney and Maddison in the 53rd minute but they were soon caught out by Lustig’s diagonal ball, Lewis again coming to the rescue to deny Rogic.

Lewis again kept the game alive when he saved from Moussa Dembélé and Rogic, before Rogic and Forrest both shot wide from 18 yards. Maddison was starting to pose questions to Celtic and his free-kick found Rooney but the striker’s backwards header was cleared in the goalmouth.

A melee broke out when Scott Brown kicked the ball against the grounded Graeme Shinnie, who had been decked by Lustig. The Celtic pair were booked along with Hayes, who pushed the visiting captain over.

Aberdeen made a late surge for an equaliser but Sviatchenko produced a last-ditch sliding tackle to deny Shinnie and Maddison volleyed over from 16 yards.

Armstrong shot just over at the other end but the game finished in the Celtic area with Lewis among those attacking several testing set-pieces from Maddison, and Craig Gordon saved brilliantly from Sviatchenko’s misplaced header five minutes into injury-time.

Brendan Rodgers added his view to Scott Brown’s return to the international fold: “You saw how dominant he was, how good he was, and that can only be good for Scotland. He is an outstanding player and it’s a great tonic for Scotland.”

Celtic moved nine points clear at the top of the Premiership after beating Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Tom Rogic's controlled half-volley put the reigning champions ahead midway through the first half.

Dons goalkeeper Joe Lewis denied Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Rogic as the visitors pressed for a second after the interval.

Having struggled to create, Aberdeen had a late flurry and Craig Gordon prevented an Erik Sviatchenko own goal.

Two victories over Celtic at Pittodrie last season had kept the Dons close to Ronny Deila's team until the last few weeks of the season.

But Derek McInnes' men drop from second to fourth in a tight table having played a game more than Celtic, who they meet in next month's Scottish League Cup final.

He rarely finishes a match but he rarely needs to these days – Rogic is quickly becoming Rodgers' first name on the team sheet.

It was a magical finish from the midfielder who, once again glided and floated his away around the edge of the opposition box looking for openings and killer passes.

Shay Logan's header inside the box was one without conviction and when the ball fell to Rogic, he took a touch and then deftly flicked the ball past Joe Lewis in the Aberdeen goal with the outside of his left boot.

He had plenty of other opportunities to add more, as did Sinclair and Dembele, but Lewis produced a plethora of stunning saves to keep the Dons in it.

Fight and bite

For long spells the football was not great but with tackles flying and challenges thumping, there was full commitment and plenty of passion on display from both sides.

Stuart Armstrong and Scott Brown linked up well once again in Celtic's midfield, allowing the wide men to drift and sniff for openings on the wings.

The solidity Celtic have displayed for much of the season was on show but the usual flair and potency in front of goal was missing.
Dons' late flurry

Derek McInnes caught many by surprise by starting the match with no recognised striker. Wes Burns was given the task of providing the firepower but it was an experiment that did not provide the desired outcome.

The Aberdeen boss said before the game that pace was the key to unlocking the Celtic defence but the home side looked at their most dangerous when Adam Rooney came off the bench in the second half.

It was a much improved performance from the one that led to the midweek defeat at the hands of Hamilton but in reality they only really looked like equalising after a sustained period of pressure near the end of the match.

James Maddison came on at the same time as Rooney and his influence caused Celtic problems, with Graeme Shinnie almost through before being crowded out in the visitors' box.

Maddison then volleyed over and the midfielder's free-kick delivery was headed on by Sviatchenko only for Gordon to make a crucial late save.
