Brendan Rodgers is questioning why Celtic’s post-Christmas fixture is away from home for the seventh season running – saying it’s not right for supporters
“It was a tough game for us coming to Easter Road. I felt we dominated the game without affecting it too much in the final third until the last 20 minutes.”
Brendan Rodgers
E-Tims @ETimsNet · FT Hibs 0 #Celtic 0 Flat performance after midweek exertions. Didn’t put any sustained pressure on until the final 15 mins. Not going to be critical of the team as they’ve been brilliant in recent weeks and throughout the season you’ll get games when you are below par; 1h Brendan has a few questions to ask himself.. then he can go ask the Board. Everyone expected some fresh legs today following such a big draining game midweek. Did Brendan hope to get a decent lead then freshen up rather than bench them then call on folk if needed?
The Gorvals Urchin of KDS:
A dreadful game of football, £34 to watch what was basically one team howfing the ball up the park and the other going side to side , a bad day at the office against a dreadful Hibs side .
Sireadh of KDS:
Wednesday is no excuse for that performance, spending more time playing across and back when midfielders do not show for the ball. We cannot play a high ball in either from open play or from dead balls as we don’t have a threat in the air, resort to hitting the bye line and low cross into the area between goal post and six yard line where all defenders cover a low ball. We have no one that can shoot from a distance . Hibs were poor and we were not interested, you could see the nil nil well before half time and seemed nothing was done in dressing room to knock the lethargy out of them. Forrest is now playing the ball back more than he takes men on, MJ at least tried. Brendan has said that Maeda is more the understudy to Kyogo rather than Oh, might have been better to have him through the middle rather than Oh. At the end of the day it was a lesson on how to waste 80 mins doing nothing.
Torquemada wrote: For all the bitching about subs, squads and budgets, the team that finished that game was a lot more dangerous than the team that started. The game had 0-0 written all over it long before HT. We were St Johnstone at CP bad, looking mentally and physically knackered from the off. Mikey would do your head in – such great feet, so few brains, but the wingers before him were not doing much either. Jamesie desperately unlucky with that shot off the bat. We’ve been spoiled the past few months.

Daizen Maeda misses chance
Daizen Maeda misses a fine chance to give Celtic the lead
Celtic missed the chance to move 10 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership as they were stifled by a resolute Hibs at Easter Road.
Both sides passed up golden chances to take the lead, with Daizen Maeda first denied David Marshall, who rolled back the years with a sprawling save after Hibs played themselves into trouble.
Hibs could have hit the front in the second period as Martin Boyle latched on to a sensational early cross from Jordan Obita, but the Australian’s effort soared into the stands.
James Forrest’s rocketed strike hit the crossbar late on, meaning Rangers have the opportunity to narrow the gap against Hearts on Sunday, while Hibs move to eighth.

The latest at Celtic
As was shown at Ibrox last week, Nick Montgomery’s Hibs stick to their principles unwaveringly. It was their determination to play out from the back that gifted Celtic most of their chances in the first period.
Both Rocky Bushiri and David Marshall gave the ball straight to an opponent as Hibs got themselves in a muddle, though Celtic weren’t ruthless enough to punish their bold hosts.
The only time that Celtic truly cut through the Hibs defence looked certain to result in the opener, but Marshall’s heroics kept Maeda at bay.
It was Hibs in disbelief when Boyle failed to make the most of a rare flash of frailty from the previously untroubled visitors.
After having to use a concussion substitution to replace Alistair Johnston after Bushiri cannoned the ball into his face, Brendan Rodgers shuffled the pack in search of a spark, giving Mikey Johnston his first appearance in more than 18 months
His arrowed strike, beaten away by Marshall, was the closest either side got to breaking the deadlock before James Forrest crashed a thunderous strike off the bar to maintain the stalemate.
Player of the match – David Marshall (Hibernian)

Though sometimes shaky in possession, the Hibs goalkeeper’s passing was largely on point, with a couple of crucial saves to keep the champions at bay.
Rare stalemate between league’s entertainers – analysis
The meetings between these sides last season provided blockbuster entertainment, averaging 5.3 goals per game across the four outings.
It’s this recent history, and both sides’ commitment to playing front-foot football, that make such an uneventful contest such a surprise. In fact, it’s just the fifth goalless draw they have played out together in 20 years.
Perhaps drained from their absorbing European antics midweek, Celtic never looked like overwhelming their opposition in the manner they have done so consistently in recent seasons.
Hibs, meanwhile, stuck to their task, working with the kind of cohesion and confidence that was sorely lacking under Montgomery’s predecessor, Lee Johnson.
They learned their lessons from last week’s Rangers scalding and could well have won the game if their talisman Boyle had found the finish.
