- Glasgow Charity Cup final
- A nasty game, spoiled early on by the vicious tackle of Nick Smith on Jimmy Quinn which saw Quinn carried off and on crutches for the rest of the summer.
- It was a piece of revenge for the Scottish Cup final, and possibly the start of all the bad feeling between Rangers and Celtic.
- Post-note: In early January 1905, just eight months after this match, Nick Smith of Rangers had died, aged 31. He and his wife had died of enteric fever in Darvel, Ayrshire. Some elements had previously held a grudge against him as he was the man who crocked Jimmy Quinn in this Glasgow Charity Cup final, BUT no one wishes death on anyone. RIP
- Before this game, Celtic's grandstand and pavilion on the Janefield Street side of the ground was burned down, presumably as a result of a cigarette left by a spectator after the last match (Celtic v Queen's Park). Foul play not suspected, but not entirely ruled out either!
- After this match, Celtic went on a tour of Austria & Bohemia (in the old Austro-Hungarian empire).

Celtic fought well and at one point Davie Hamilton brought it back to 3-2, but the numerical disadvantage was just too much
