- Played at Eastfield Park on a spring like day before a crowd supplemented by the boys from St Joseph's College, Dumfries. (The Dumfries team are not Queen of the South, as we now know them). Goalkeeper Strachan was in magnificent form, and when the local team went ahead just after half-time, Celtic "trembled", but goals by Quinn and Bennett saw Celtic through to the next round.
