Celtic v. Third Lanark. At Celtic Park, Glasgow. The first half was all in favou , of Celtic, who on the hard ground, showed fine combination, and outplayed their opponents. The warriors were very weak forward there being an entire want of cohesion, and they failed to make any impression on the Parkhead defence. After prolonged pressure the Celtic’s latest recruit, who created a favourable impression, opened the scoring with a, Well taken goal. Shortly after the same player sent across a. fine centre, which Gallacher easily converted, and until the interval Brownlie had a lot of saving to do. Half-time:—Celtic two goals; Third Lanark, none. An improvement .was noticeable in the play of the warriors at the resumption, and Clements, gave Prentice a chance to notch a point, but the outside right failed to take advantage. After defending for some time, the Celts again became aggressive, and kept up a steady pressure on the Third Lanark goal. The defence had a gruelling time but stood well up to the pressure, and it was by means of a penalty that Celtic scored a third goal, M’Attee bsing the scorer. Near the close Hannah scored for Third Lanark. -Result:— Celtic, three goals: Third Lanark, one. Celtic—Mulrooney; M’Nair and M’Gregor; Young Loney. and Johnstone: M’Attee, Gallacher, Quinn, Travers, and Clark
